It still felt a bit unclear to me how exactly I wanted to proceed with my idea of portraits, but I decided that I wanted to look at bags in a real-life scenario, where people interact with their bags unfiltered, so I went outside on the street. I went to four different places in London: Sloane Square, Trafalgar Square, Notting Hill, and Brick Lane, each differentiated by a diverse area, ambient, class, and the people that live and go there. My initial idea was to create a map of London through people’s bags, but I then realized that my subject range was too broad and wherever I went, I more or less saw a lot of the same bags; it all became a big blur to me (I photographed about 400 bags).
